Hi everyone I would like to personally congratulate the Anfuso family for there 30 years in business and also thank all the patrons of Mamma Rosa's Restaurant over the years for there generosity, support, and loyalty.

James Anfuso was kind enough to share some history of the restaurant with me, and so I would like to share it with all of you.

"We opened up 30 years ago on April 8, 1984. I was in grade 11, and we were located at 1961 Harvey ave. Our first year and a half was strictly take out, fresh pasta and sauce sales, and home made ice cream.

We later added 9 tables (from customer requests) and created a menu, basically it was Italian meals my mom cooked for us growing up. My mom was a stay at home mom before we opened Mamma Rosa and never worked in a restaurant before (she was a hair dresser in Italy)

My dad Giacomo was a welder his whole life since the age of 11, and never worked a day in the hospitality or restaurant business before we opened Mamma Rosa.

There were a lot of growing pains in the early years, but we received some much needed help, and input  from customers and friends (such as Dave Coombs ).

We later moved to our current location, down town 561 Lawrence Ave in 1993.

I bought the restaurant from my parents in 1995 when I decided to take over our family business.

My father Giacomo was extremely proud that he was able to immigrate to Canada, open his own business, be his own boss and leave a legacy for his children.

With a lot of hard work and dedication we have been successful for 30 years!

Please join us Tuesday April 8 thru Sunday April 13 to celebrate this milestone!!

We are offering focaccia samples to our customers and Annegrets chocolates (The best chocolates in Kelowna).

For the month of April  all Tiramisu sales will be donated to the KGH foundation in my father's name.

In the past 11 years we have raised almost 150,000 for KGH and CLF.

We would like to thank all our loyal customers for their support and friendship we have shared the last 30 years!

The authentic Italian taste of the month for April 2014 is an old favorite of the founding father, Giacomos.  Here is a picture of the menu item, Fettuccine alla Siciliana, to look for when either dining in, take out, or delivery.

April Special Dish of the Month Fettuccine alla Siciliana

I can't wait to try this dish, it sounds like it would be delicious.  The owner of Mamma Rosa, James Anfuso, tells me that Fettuccine alla Siciliana is best served with home made sausage and will be for the special dish of the month this April.  As you experience this dish please feel free to leave comments and feedback about your time at Mamma Rosa's.  Everything I have ever tried from this restaurant has been the best one of those dishes I have ever eaten.  I am sure that it will be the same for the April Anniversary menu special, Fettuccine alla Siciliana.

April the 8th will be a very special day for everyone that holds Mamma Rosa Restaurant close to there hearts, for it will be the 30th year anniversary for this Kelowna culinary gem.  Here is a picture of the family excited about the upcoming week of extra special treatment for the customers and friends.
